July 2011: Filmmakers have until July 31st to enter the 2011 MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival to take place in over 200 Cinemas spanning 6 Continents from September 23rd to October 2nd
The Festival accepts all genres, the only requirements is that films must be 18 minutes under in length.
DROP OFFS BY MONDAY AUGUST 1ST ARE FINE: There are no Late Deadlines for MANHATTAN SHORT. Films must be received in NYC by Monday August 1st by 6pm. Over 400 Screenings spanning 6 Continents have already been confirmed for the 2011MANHATTAN SHORT, with venues in Russia and Spain expected to sign on we may top over 600 shows this year. MANHATTAN SHORT'S JOURNALISM & MULTIMEDIA COMPETITION Deadline for Media Teams to Register: Sept 15th 2011
ATTENTION all next generation of TV Hosts, Journalists, Photographers & Media Gurus. The MANHATTAN SHORT Journalism & Multimedia Competition deadline to register is September 15th 2011.
Thank you to those in Australia, Poland, England and St Petersburg , Russia who have already sent in Applications. We regret to inform you that this particular Competition is restricted to the USA for its first year of operation. However, we will be expanding it to the rest of the world in 2012, and that is going to be electric, so please consider resubmitting your applications in the coming year.
For those of you finding out about this competition for the first time.
Here's how the competition works: We select MEDIA TEAMS. Each Team must contain four elements:
1: A Social Media Producer
2: TV Reporter / Host / Hostess
3: A Journalist / Team Writer
4: Cameraman / Photographer
Each Media Team around the country are given an Online-Media Channel click here to see a template: Their Assignment: Report on MANHATTAN SHORT in their own town. Each Media Team will receive access to interview some of the filmmakers as well as staff at MANHATTAN SHORT.
Judging categories include Best Print Review (200-250 words); Best 3 Minute Video Interviews. ( What did people vote for and why etc.); Best Photo and Best Social Media Producer (One that ignites online-debate with their audience and markets the media channel on other networks such as FaceBook, Twitter etc).
The competition will be judged by a panel of New York Print, broadcast and social media journalists and producers. The judges slated to participate are those we hope will be hiring you in years to come.
With ONE event taking place in over 200 locations the opportunity to put together a competition for the next generation of Journalists and Media Stars in conjunction with the Film Festival was just such a great idea, we had to make happen.

MANHATTAN SHORT'S Screenplay Competition Call for Screenplays Deadline April 30 2012 "Everyone's got a story...just keep 'em short"
MANHATTAN SHORT's Screenplay Competition deadline has been pushed back to April 30, 2012. This competition is for screenplay for short films only and all screenplays must be 20 pages under in length.
The Festival encourages EVERYONE & ANYONE to enter this competition. It's not just for established screenwriters it's open to newcomers who have never written a screenplay before. The MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival will assist in producing the winning screenplay.
