Costumes and Props
A big part of the filmmaking process is costuming our actors. Without our actors wearing the proper attire, our films can become less convincing. There are several ways you can go about finding the right costume. You may even be a costumer yourself and don't need to rent or buy costumes. But for everyone who does not make their own costumes, below are some local theatrical prop and costume shops that offer costume rentals at a decent price.
If you are going to rent a costume at a shop, don't be afraid to ask the staff if there are any discounts for students or filmmakers. For all you know they could be willing to give you the costume at a lower price if in return you give them the proper credit in your film. Also don't be afraid to ask around at local theatre groups (even Wayne State). For all you know they may be willing to lend out some costumes that they have.
